My job wasn’t just to hold the mic. It was to hold the room. Every woman walked in a guest. Some may have not known anyone in the room.

But my goal was to create an atmosphere where everyone felt seen, celebrated, and connected. We laughed, cried, and let the authentic conversations take over.

Adult friendships refined by fire hit different. And this room was full of them. 🥂✨

I snuck a photo before she could stop me. Because one day she’s going to want to remember this... the nerves, the questions, and the brave all mixed together.

So proud of my baby girl.💕

I’ve never shared this online publicly, and quite frankly, debated about doing so.

But it’s time. My story could save someone else’s life.

You see…. My burnout was so severe that my doctor told me that I needed to get another job. She agreed for me to take FMLA for a couple weeks to process. On that first day, I sat in my loft in complete silence.

I don’t even remember eating or even taking a bio break.

I was numb.

The very next day, I attended a cocktail event. I had to purchase a new dress (that I didn’t even care for) to make sure I was dressed for the occasion.

I smiled even though I felt teeny tiny inside.

That night, I looked at the picture (on the right) and thought to myself, “Leslie, who are you?”

One moment, you’re so stressed out that you’re numb. The next moment, you’re smiling in front of a camera, but deep down inside… you despise how you feel.

I had an epiphany that is now my life’s mission to share with the world. I not only experienced burnout, but I was a victim of identity theft.

When we’re disconnected from ourselves, this is where we end up.

Broken. Naked. Embarrassed. Depressed. Anxious. Small. Powerless.

But you don’t have to stay there. Girl, it’s time to regain your POWER.

No one will recognize me.

So, I stayed home and responded “No” to the invitations pretending I was busy or had prior engagements. The truth is that I was just at home sitting on my couch wishing I was at that graduation party or gala.

I was a stranger in my own skin.

If I didn’t recognize myself, no one else would either.

So, I finally decided to do something about it. I destroyed the burnout by quitting my job, taking some time to breathe (didn’t work for a few months), and taking care of me - mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Hired a therapist and a life coach. And went back to the gym.

Took some intentional time to focus on faith, family, and fitness.

And during this process, I realized that I not only experienced burnout, but I was a victim of identity theft.

My epiphany is now my life’s mission to share with the world. When we’re disconnected from ourselves, this is where we end up.

Broken. Naked. Embarrassed. Depressed. Anxious. Small. Powerless.

In hiding… While the thief continued to prosper.

And you don’t have to stay there. Girl, it’s time to regain your POWER.

And I thought… when did we stop doing that? I know I used to be fearless. As I grew older, I lost some of my boldness. But slowly, I’ve regained a lot of it back. I’m not only a visionary in my own right, I’m helping other women DREAM and take action too.

On Wednesday night, Roland and I went on a date with David & Tamela Mann. We encountered grown folks marital conversations, comedy and Christ all in a matter of a few hours. Truly blessed!

And last night, Trevor Noah graced us with his presence at my alma mater DePauw University for the final Ubben Lecture. This lecture series has happening when I was a student and long before my arrival to campus. Thank you to Tim & Sharon Ubben for bringing thought leaders from around the world to our little old campus in Greencastle.

What a week! Now I need several naps!!
